Our Group CEO, Daw Win Wint Tint was on the live video panel discussion with the State Counsellor, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi today, together with U Aung Htoo (Deputy Minister of Commerce) and Daw Thet Su Htay (SME Entrepreneur).
Here are the key take-aways from her discussion on the session :
1) Highlighted the point of importance of food sufficiency & local production in light of Covid-19 and supporting the government’s direction on improving food & agricultural production beyond the country’s needs
2) Highlighted the need for developing traditional retail sector which requires upgrading the traditional markets, modernization in supply chain and retail management capabilities.
3) Welcoming the government’s initiatives on e-Commerce development and its various efforts including financial support to SMEs, subsidy for the poor in cashback scheme and stimulus package as detailed in the CERP (Covid-19 Economic Rescue Plan)
4) Recommendations made on regulatory reform in supporting SME product registration process, FDA reform and a more inclusive approach in loan assessment process for small and medium retailers
